The 3rd tournament of the women’s 7’s series was played in Pori, Karhuhalli, on Saturday, 22nd of
February. Six clubs and seven teams were taking part in the tournament, WRC participating with two
This was the first time that the women’s 7s series was played in Pori Karhuhalli and the organization of the
tournament was superb – a special thank you goes to Pori club chairman Matti Tuominen and the lovely
Noora Kallio from the Lollers team.
In the Cup Final Warriors Black beat HRC again with scores 36 – 7, WRC thus continuing its lead in the series
while HRC takes an even stronger hold on the second position.
Home team Pori Lollers showed their skills and challenged JRC in the Plate Final. The exciting game went to
overtime and the golden goal was made by JRC’s Susanna Karvinen, and the match ended 20 – 15.
The whole Lollers team showed great attitude and team spirit, especially Riikka Turtiainen, who was
selected the best player of the tournament.
In the Bowl Final TRC won over the WRC second team, Warriors Gold, 39 – 10. TRC continued 4th in the
series, JRC 3rd and Pori 5th.
The Wooden Spoon and the award for the most developed player went both to Vaasa Foxes. Jonna
Tynjälä has advanced big steps during her rugby career and was selected most developed player in the
tournament. In addition, in their last game the Vaasa team showed real rugby spirit, when Jonna got
injured and without any substitute players, the team was forced to continue with six players against
Warriors Gold. Vaasa gave their all until the last second of the match and did not give WRC Gold an easy
The Women’s 7s series continues 23.3 in Vaasa, Botniahalli, and the last tournament will be played in
Tampere, Pyynikki, 21.4. So fantastic women’s 7s rugby is still to come!
