The women’s 15’s national team re-started its operations in the summer of 2017 after a three-year break. After the selection camp held in July 2017, approximately 50 players were selected to the national team training group. The reformed national team had its first match in October 2017 in Eerikkilä, when they played a friendly against Sweden’s national team.
The women’s 15’s national team is competing in the Rugby Europe XV Women Trophy series. The first official home game for the Finnish ladies was held in October 2018, when Switzerland travelled to Helsinki. In preparation of the main event of 2018, the 15’s national team played warm-up matches against Turku Swans in Finland and against the Spanish Majadahonda Rugby Club in Madrid. The Trophy series continues in spring 2019 by an away game with Czech Republic.
Training camps are held at the Eerikkilä Sport & Outdoor Resort, and training days across Finland when needed.
We are also interested in arranging friendly matches against other national teams or international teams to help develop our national team.
The women’s 15’s national team management comprises of head coach Stephen Whittaker, assistant coaches are to be announced, team manager Niina Tikkanen and physio Riikka Nortia.
