Yesterday’s rugby had big implications for the season. JRC picked up a win on the road in Turku meaning that HRFC, WRC, and TRC are all guaranteed the top three spots in the Championship! With games in hand though, any of the three teams could finished 1st or 3rd and secure either an automatic spot in the final or a home semi-final. In the women’s Championship Jyväskylä beat Swans 0 – 58 while TRC ran in 6 tries to overcome Pori 34 – 12. In Div1, Kotka hosted the season’s penultimate tournament that saw Joensuu complete a clean sheet of victories for the first time this year. With only one tournament remaining, their 54 points secures them 2nd place in the table – finishing behind Porvoo – and match against the winners of Div1 North. Who that is depends on the outcome of the one remaining fixture in that division: Vaasa vs Pori. Vaasa are currently top of the table by 4pts, but a bonus point win (whilst denying Vaasa a bonus point) would be enough to see Pori leap-frog them and claim a home semi-final leg.
